History
The El Dorado Equestrian Trails Foundation was founded in 1987 to encourage identification and dedication of equestrian and hiking trails on the Georgetown Divide in El Dorado County, California. Since its inception, the Foundation, in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service, has been instrumental in the development of many miles of trails, the construction of staging areas, and the creation of the Dru Barner Campground.
In 1995, EDETF, along with the Dru Barner Foundation, entered into a cost-share agreement with the U.S. Forest Service to develop and construct the Dru Barner Campground. Through this joint effort, the campground now includes 48 campsites, many with picnic tables and a fire rings; a restroom; large group area with tables and barbecues; and water for horses.
